Watch Alan Parsons Project - Old and Wise Lyrics on screen and description From Wikipedia: Old and Wise is a 1982 song by the Alan Parsons Project from the album Eye in the Sky. The song reached #21 on the Billboard AC charts in the US in early 1983 and #74 in the United Kingdom-- the first of the bands singles to chart in that country. The lead vocal on Old and Wise was performed by former Zombies vocalist Colin Blunstone. Blunstone made several appearances on Alan Parsons Project albums, but Old and Wise was the only single with Blunstone as lead singer to gain airplay. Blunstone later re-recorded the song for his own two-disc Best Of album, titled Old and Wise, released in 2003. A review of the song by Lonnie E. Holder in The Reviews the Thing states: the elements are chilling and nostalgic. But as the song closes out suddenly the vocals command and the saxophone close out will make you long to play this song over again, and wish the song were much longer. I agree! If you havent heard this song before, please listen until the end so you dont miss this terrific saxophone close out performed by Mel Collins which begins at 3:33). Alan Parsons Project - Old and Wise Lyrics: As far as my eyes can see There are shadows approaching me And to those I left behind I wanted you to know Youve always shared my deepest thoughts You follow where I go [CHORUS] And, oh, when Im old and wise Bitter words mean little to me Autumn winds will blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they asked me if I knew you Id smile and say you were a friend of mine And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes Oh, when Im old and wise As far as my eyes can see There are shadows surrounding me And to those I leave behind I want you all to know Youve always shared my darkest hours Ill miss you when I go [CHORUS] And, oh, when Im old and wise Heavy words that tossed and blew me Like autumn winds will blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they ask you if you knew me Remember that you were a friend of mine As the final curtain falls before my eyes Oh, when Im old and wise As far as my eyes can see
