Watch Is Christianity intolerant? Can all relgions be true? Take the parable of the six blind men and the elephant. Each blind man touches a different part of the elephant and interprets what he thinks it is. The first blind man takes hold of the tail and thinks it’s a rope. The second blind man holds the trunk and thinks it’s a big snake. Still another blind man feels the flapping ears and thinks it’s a fan. The fourth blind man touches the side of the elephant and thinks it’s a wall. The fifth blind man grabs hold of a leg and thinks it’s a log. Finally, the sixth blind man reaches out and touches the tusk of the elephant and believes it’s a spear. The point is that none of the blind men are correct—they are all wrong. There is only one true answer, and the one telling the story knows it. It’s an elephant! Equally, there are not many ways to God. Only those blinded by sin think so (2 Cor. 4:3–4). Not all views can be true (see question 2, Whose truth is true?). Religions have opposite views, and opposites cannot both be true. But neither can all views be false; at least one view must be true. Jesus claimed to be that truth. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Paul said, “There is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5). The apostles declared, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Indeed, Jesus said, “I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins” (John 8:24; see John 3:36). Thus, Jesus claimed to be the only way of salvation. But did he offer any evidence to support his claim? Yes, he did. Jesus did three things to prove his right to be the only way to God: 1. He fulfilled prophecy. 2. He lived a sinless and miraculous life.3. He predicted and accomplished his resurrection from the dead. Jesus fulfilled nearly one hundred Old Testament predictions made hundreds of years in advance regarding where he would be born (Mic. 5:2), how he would be born (Isa. 7:14), how he would suffer and die (Isa. 53), and when he would die (Dan. 9:24–27). No other religious leader has fulfilled these specific predictions made hundreds of years in advance. Only Jesus literally fulfilled them; hence, only Jesus is the way to God. Jesus is the only figure in history who claimed to be the Son of God and the only way to God and proved it in many miraculous ways. As Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, said to Christ, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs [miracles] you are doing if God were not with him” (John 3:2).MY Q and A BOOK:******CHECK OUT THE STAND STRONG SITE - AND SIGN UP FOR OUR ENEWS: ME ON TWITTER: ON FACEBOOK AND GET UPDATES: LINK TO MY BOOKS: TO MY PODCAST: ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS:[email protected]
