SMRITI IRANI AT MIND ROCKS 2017: ALL THAT SHE SAID
Responding to a question about the image of politicians and opportunities for women in politics, Smriti Irani said that a particular image was created about politicians and politics that it was not for people especially women to think about it. The image was created to keep good people and women from joining politics, she said.
Talking about New India, Smriti Irani said, One person, Smriti Irani, cannot define New India. Young India will define New India. New India will be a place where women can hold their heads high and where those powerful empower the marginalized.
Reflecting on her journey from Delhi to Mumbai to be a part of the entertainment industry, Smriti Irani said, I was not scared (while trying to establish myself in the industry) because I am from Delhi. Girls and women from Delhi, from all what they go through during their growing years, become capable of doing what they want to.
Speaking about pursuing ones dream, Smriti Irani said, Success does not mean 100 per cent protection from failure. It means meeting your failures and look into them failure and dealing with them positively.
On choosing to join politics, Smriti Irani said, It is easy to move on from your failures, but when you leave behind success to join a new field, things are different. With instances of sexual abuse of children being reported frequently raising concerns about their safety, Irani emphasised that kids should be taught about Good Touch, Bad Touch.
